![]() I bet there will be experience type games such as RPG/Horror etc in this thread. I bet 3D vision people here also play more for the experience, more so than the average gamer. Anything that adds to this experience has always been a huge plus for me. Myself, however, I play for the experience, which is a combination of the story, narrative, gameplay, mechanics, and visuals. Most people tend to play games "for fun" e.g. As technology has improved, it has also meant that Dyna-Z became impossible as it was - we gained one thing and regretfully, lost something else valuable in the process. What helped it immensely was also a setting in the original 3D drivers called Dyna-Z, which was basically dynamic convergence - The problem has been, as in real life too - that when one views far away things, such as the infinite universe, the stars, the moon, or even a skyline - everything seems flat because things are too far away to sense depth between them.ĭyna-Z ensured, however, that the convergence was always perfect, ensuring that there was always deep 3D no matter how far away the scene.Ĭertainly Autoconvergence has been available to some extent since the original ELSA Revelator drivers - it has never been nearly as good, likely due to the fact that it was easy to do back then as games and their effects were comparatively simple. Of course, the story, narrative, and gameplay were also superb, making it an experience of a lifetime. I don't think 3D has added more to any other game than it did to Homeworld. It's a mess, usually far worse than this screen:Īs soon as 3D kicked in, however, everything had depth, and one could instantly grasp and be in awe of what was in front of you. The problem is that it is very difficult to conceptualise battle on a flat screen, especially one being staged in 3 dimensions. There has never been as good a 3D space (XYZ) RTS certainly it was the first for its time. Having been 3D gaming since the year 2000, the most memorable for me personally has certainly been Homeworld - I may have mentioned it before.
